Purpose:
To evaluate the refractive and visual outcomes after new intracorneal ring (Keratacx 355°) implantation in patients with keratoconus.
Methods:
This study included 18 eyes with stable keratoconus who underwent intracorneal ring implantation surgery. The preoperative and 12-month postoperative of uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected (CDVA) distance visual acuity, corneal sphere and astigmatism and keratometry readings (using Oculus Pentacam HR) were measured.
Results:
Preoperative and postoperative UDVA, CDVA, sphere, astigmatism, minimum (Kmin) and maximum keratometry (Kmax) were 0.14 ± 0.08 and 0.39 ± 0.21 LogMAR, 0.44 ± 0.17 and 0.53 ± 0.18 LogMAR, -3.79 ± 3.16 and -0.94 ± 2.18 D, -4.33 ± 2.91 and -2.47 ± 1.26 D, 47.24 ± 3.24 and 43.49 ± 3.67 D, 51.61 ± 3.04 and 45.99 ± 3.70 D, respectively. There were statistically differences between preoperative and postoperative of all these parameters.
Conclusion:
It seems that this intracorneal stromal ring can be safe and effective for keratoconus correction. Results of this ring is comparable with other intracorneal rings.
